OEDEMA BELOW SKIN SURFACE

The existence of oedema that happens below skin surface there are some terms and must be distinguished from one another, eg hematomas, abscesses, hernias, cysts and tumors, as following :

1. Hematoma.
Oedema in the hematoma occurred in a short time, on palpation was rather hot, there are fluctuations, on punksi there is fluid of blood. One type of hematoma is othematoma that occur in the auricular pinna as a result of repeated irritation ( scratching ).

2. Abscess.
On palpation can be felt rather hot, there is response of pain, there were fluctuations, skin color is red, occur gradual and takes time 1 - 3 days, on punksi there is fluid of pus that caused by contamination of microorganisms.

3. Hernia.
Abnormalities that be acquired unintentionally ( aquisite hernia ) and caused by traumatica ( traumatica hernia ). Aquisite hernia usually occurs in the umbilicus, when the fetus was born that caused by mishandling of birth is marked with a protrusion of skin at the area of umbilicus with soft consistency, there is no sianotis skin, enlargement of the bulge occurred in line with the increase of age and hernia ring-shaped irregular. Traumatica hernia be formed after a collision with a blunt object on the hollow area, the skin remains intact but can sometimes there is sianotis, on palpation there was a clear boundary of the hernial ring-shaped irregular, not hot, no response of pain, the mass of hernia can be repositioned to the body cavity.

4. Cyst.
There are no symptoms of inflammation, the consistency was soft, there is fluctuation, on punksi there is fluid of serus.

5. Soft tumor.
On palpation there was a mass with rubbery consistency, no inflammatory reaction, a clear boundary, there is no response of pain, on punksi there is no liquid.
