Chihuahua
It is recommended that children be school aged or older
before adding a Chihuahua
to one's home. Also, manyChihuahuas focus their devotion on one person,
becoming overly jealous of that person's human relationships. This can be
mitigated through socialization.
Dalmatian
Bred to run for miles, the Dalmatian retains this tireless enthusiasm. It is a playful, eager companion that must get daily hard exercise in a safe area if it is expected to behave at home. It loves to run and may roam. It may be aggressive toward strange dogs, but it is generally good with other pets and is especially good with horses. It may be too energetic for young children. It tends to be reserved toward strangers. It can be stubborn.
Deaf Dalmatians present special training and behavioral problems. They are easily startled and may snap. They are not advised for families with children.
Pomeranian
Despite its diminutive stature, the Pomeranian is confident, outgoing, and expressive. The breed is easily adaptable to various environments, and can be a pleasant and loyal companion for up to fifteen years.
Pomeranian pups are intelligent, quick-witted, aware of their surroundings, and can be trained to be watchdogs. They may point out objects that are out of place before humans notice them. However, they are also cheeky and cunning and can manipulate humans if not careful. They are not recommended for homes with small children as they may quickly become temperamental and nip or bite if provoked. They can get along well with other household pets if given a slow and proper introduction.
Bulldog
The temperament of the Bulldog is generally docile, friendly and gregarious but are known to be fiercely loyal. Breeders have worked to breed aggression out of the breed, and as such the dog is known to be of generally good temperament. Bulldogs can be so attached to home and family that they will not venture out of the yard without a human companion. Due to their friendly nature bulldogs are known for getting along well with children, other breeds of dog and any house-broken pet in general.
A bulldog is suitable for houses as well as apartments due to their size and comparative lack of energy, but puppies may be destructive until they reach maturity.
English foxhound
Traditionally a pack hound, the English foxhound nonetheless makes a stately house dog, as long as it has human or canine companionship. It gets along well with horses, dogs, children and other pets. It is an avid sniffer and trailer, however, and needs daily exercise in a safe area. It is a tolerant, amiable and gentle dog, even though it is not very demonstrative. Most are reserved with strangers. It is not well-suited for city life. It bays.
The temperament of labrador is good-tempered, very agile. Excellent nose, soft mouth, keen love of water. Adaptable, devoted companion. Intelligent, keen and biddable, with a strong will to please. Kindly nature, with no trace of aggression or undue shyness.
Chow – chow
The chow chow is not very demonstrative, even with its family, and is somewhat suspicious of strangers. It is independent and stubborn. It can be aggressive toward other dogs but is generally good with other household pets. It is serious and protective, devoted to its family.
